Just wanted to run an idea past everyone...
Two nights ago, Leigh and I hooked up our cameras logged on to SKYPE and had what I would refer to as an artist Jam Session. It was very much meant to give me an insight into Leigh as an artist and to bring me along a bit further into my dark areas of art (those places I don't like to go). But I think what happened along with doing those things for me, is that we were able to get a nice little groove going, talk and discover each other as artist and people. Oh the modern world...
I know that this happens often in the world of music. And with artist that go out and paint Plein Air. Often with mentors, peers, and accomplished artist alike. So my question is, should we have an area here where artist can show interest in Jam sessions. Put your name in, set up schedules and jam with other artist. Don't know if it would work on creating a specific piece of art as an artist but maybe as a way of sharpening the senses and adding variety to a routine. Don't know....would it work? Just a thought, I would like to hear others.

I really like the concept Mitch. I'm actually going to start advertising online classes using this method in the near future considering how well Saturday night went. We could look at running Jam sessions to create a series of works on a particular theme.
The works created could then be put up online at untamedartists.com as a monthly exhibition.
This is an idea that could really help get everyone to gel and create some interesting works.

Yeah Leigh, the net has opened up a whole new way of providing services for teaching. Between e-mail and avenues like you tube, there seems to be all sorts of teaching and learning aids available.
To just hang out and paint draw...whatever though, maybe learning, maybe connecting, maybe planning....who knows, could be fun. I think it's always been easy for musicians to do it because they just grab their gear and do it, moving your studio is a much bigger deal though.
I like your idea of creating a piece in the process. Maybe there's a theme or a subject selected and things just materialize from there. Maybe over a few weekly / monthly scheduled jam sessions.
It could be done in more of a group also, perhaps where people just hang up form one camera and move on in kind of a rotation. You could conceivably jam with four or five different artist in a sitting based on a rotation...don't know, just thinking out loud. Could work, could all fall apart.
And yes cameras are pretty cheap these days Patrick. I just got the one with the mic built in. I gotta warn ya though...I ain't pretty. But thankfully I think the camera would be mostly on the canvas

Wow! I'm so blown away by the way those past few months have just vanished. Mitch and I are starting a new series of Skype sessions. They'll be kicking off from 8pm (AEDST) every Thursday night. If you'd like to join in the fun let me know!
Patrick can attest to how much cen be learned in a short period of time when working live alongside other artists.
